You can keep bitching about poor people “pulling themselves” up by their bootstraps, but they can’t pull it up if they have no shoes to begin with.
The same applies to all marginalized and underprivileged groups.

2014 and people still believe the fairy tale that success is given, not earned.

Maybe if the kid paid for a ticket instead of watching for free than he wouldn’t need someone else’s box.

Some people might feel sorry for themselves in this situation

Puppy don’t care

Puppy’s got stuff to do

Puppy’s got places to be

Puppy’s got people to bark at and things to sniff.

Puppy gotta live his puppy life.

Iconic.

Someone should check out the unemployment rate for blacks. Obama cares even less about black people.

Welcome to Appalachia! This is very sad yet uplifting at the same time. This is what real poverty looks like. These white families have no subsidized vouchers to pay for modern Central Air with which to heat their homes in the dead of winter paid for by tax payers. Many of these people live with NO power or running water, and use stoves that burn wood or coal for heat. If these families don’t cut wood then they don’t have heat. And section 8 housing is almost non existent in this area of the country.

Yet the uplifting part about this is that we are almost completely self sufficient. Hunting for our own food, and farming in order to support our families. And even though we are this poor, and have some of the worst education in the country, as of 2010 the violent crime rate for Appalachia was lower than the national violent crime rate average by 56.76%! We also are the only people to simply state our ethnicity as American on the United States census. We are the salt of the earth and some of the kindest people you will ever meet. This is the land of my grandfathers. Think twice before you call us inbred white trash hillbillies.

Oh yeah and we also has some of the most beautiful natural scenery in America!

A land of beauty, in the hills and in the people.
